The February 1st
2006 Ohio NENA Chapter meeting was called to order by President Carol Armitage
followed by the pledge of allegiance.
President Armitage explained
that Wanda Steiner was unable to take leadership as President so Carol will
preside over today’s meeting. The State NENA Board voted that the Vice
President-Monte Diegel will take over as president and Kim Brandt will move up
from secretary to Vice President. Rose Chambers has been appointed as Chapter
Secretary.
PRESENTATION: There was a presentation by Chris Mizera of
Vonage. Chris
is to be our contact for VOIP 9-1-1 issues his office number is 732-202-5440

Chris talked about several
VOIP issues such as address verification, all Vonage call
takers are APCO 33 trained. Vonage is partnered with
Level 3 Communications and TCS for call steering for selective routing. Vonage is doing what they can to pay surcharges. Currently
Hocking and

Van Wert County
has been approved for wireless funding.

Senate Bill 9 has
passed. February 13th or
later planning committee/Review Board etc. can approve amendment to final plan
for wireless funding.

APPROVAL of MINUTES:
There were no additions or
corrections. Minutes were approved by a motion of Roger Hixson second by Greg
Wenz. Motion passed.
TREASURERS REPORT: Was read by Carol Armitage due to Val DeRose
absence.
A new tape recorder has
been purchased for the Chapter.

Fran Sloan of National NENA
gave update for wireless implementations across the
70.3% of US
counties have Phase 1
42% have some
Phase 2 also NENA is doing cost studies to find out what is needed funding wise
to get all counties to Phase 2
Michael Warren and Bob Cobb
gave update on ENP testing. It has moved to electronic format. NENA website has
a form to determine eligibility for testing.
District 1 - Brad Brubaker-
reported that Van Wert County has had final plan approved to receive wireless
assistance.
District 2 -
Committee REPORTS:
Bill Hinkle met yesterday
with APCO training committee about
Ken Borror will be working on mandatory education with
Bill Senate bill 9 passed. We will need to be addressing the current sunset for
361 and VOIP issues. We need state wide standards rather than county by county.
CONFERENCE
COMMITTEE:
Mel Meloy gave update on
next conference meeting looking for vendors and volunteers.
Gold Star:
Greg Wenz reported that the
next Gold Star awards banquet will be at noon on April 11th at the
Marriott Columbus North. Greg thanked the selection committee for their
involvement.

Mel Meloy installed new
officers- Monte Diegel as President, Kim Brandt as Vice President and Rose
Chambers as Secretary
At this point Monte Diegel
took over as President and conducted the rest of the meeting. He thanked Carol
Armitage for all her hard work as President.
